Dear Parents,

Today is the last day of Trimester Two. I have posted the 2nd Trimester Participation Grades and all the work I have received this week. I have dropped the lowest grade a student had from any of these three categories: Classwork, Quizzes, and Homework. When I drop one of these grades, this usually raises a student's grades up by two to three percentage points.

Now that the Second Trimester has concluded, please remind your child that there is only one Trimester left before he or she heads off to high school. Students need to prepare themselves for high school by working hard in middle school. Any eighth grade student who fails a class during the last trimester will not attend any promotion ceremonies and school parties.

Please look at your child's participation grades to see how many points he or she earned during this grading period. Remember that all students start class with 9 points. A student who actively participates in a postive way in class will earn extra points and a student who disrupts class will lose participation points. Participation is worth 15% of a student's overall grade in my class. Thanks for reading this weekly letter.
